How do I know if I need Counselling/Psychotherapy?

Only you can decide if you need support from a Counsellor or Psychotherapist. However it is possible for you to talk over any reservations or concerns you may have initially by phone or e-mail if you decide to make contact.
Counselling/Psychotherapy does offer something different from talking to family and friends by giving you a structured, regular time that is designated to you for you to explore issues at you own pace.

How regularly will I have to come?

Initially you will be required to come weekly so that we can build a relationship and have some continuity of the work. This can become less frequent depending on our agreement and the nature of the work as therapy continues.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no definitive time that Counselling/Psychotherapy takes, it is highly individual and varies from person to person. Some people require only a few meetings whilst others will benefit from more time. Sometimes people decide to have a break and return at a later point to continue to do more exploration.

Where does therapy take place?

At the moment I work from home which helps me keep my charges to a minimum. If this does not suit please indicate this at our first point of contact. Sometimes it is possible to accommodate sessions elsewhere, however this would depend on location and the cost of the hire of the room would be added to the fee.

Do you have disabled access?

Access to my accommodation is via one step at the front of the house. Unfortunately it is not suitable for wheelchair access. If you require this please indicate at initial contact as it may be possible to access suitable room elsewhere. Unfortunately the cost of hire of room would be added to the fee.

What is your cancellation Policy?

If you have to cancel or reschedule an appointment. I respectfully request at least 24 hour notice of this. A fee may be applicable for failure to turn up.

Are you affiliated to a professional body?

Yes I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. ( B.A.C.P.) and I am therefore bound by their Code of Practice & Ethics. Being accredited with a professional body means that I am required to have achieved a considerable level of training hours, supervision and experience that has been approved by them.

How much do you charge?

Currently I charge £35 per session (A session lasts for an hour). This applies for both individual and couple sessions.
